He holds a full-time appointment as a Full Professor and a Senior Researcher at the Caucasus School of Business, Caucasus University, Georgia. Prior to this, he worked as a visiting scientist at the Sloan School of Management at MIT, USA and at the Financial Econometrics Department at the LMU Munich, Germany. He served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Bremen, Germany in 2015 and brings a solid working experience within the Service for Accounting, Reporting and Auditing Supervision at the Ministry of Finance of Georgia (the group that leads the accounting reform in Georgia). Prof. Pirveli specializes in issues related to capital market research in accounting and finance, with a particular focus on emerging economies. His research seeks to understand the design, implementation, and impact of financial information for capital market investment decisions. Prof. Pirveli brings a long experience of participation in various research grant projects, including in the role of a principal investigator. His experience counts some of the internationally competitive grants including the Fulbright’s Visiting Scholar grant (the all of times youngest Georgian winner of this competitive program), Volkswagen Fund’s PhD Research Grant, Young Scientist’s Research Grant, Fundamental Research Grant and H2020 Preparatory research grant from Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, and more. His papers have been published in peer-reviewed journals in Australia, Germany, the UK and the USA. His paper “Time-series Properties of Earnings: TheCase of Georgian Stock Exchange” has been awarded a best paper award at the 7th Asia-Pacific International Scientific Conference in Singapore. With his 24, he has been named as the youngest PhD holders in Economics from the University of Bremen. In 2019 he became the vice best young scientist of Georgia within the field of Humanities and Social Sciences. He is a member of different authoritative international organizations including the American Accounting Association. Prof. Pirveli holds a BBA (Hons.) from Tbilisi State University, a PhD (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Bremen and a Post-PhD from MIT Sloan. |
